How to keep your Silver jewellery clean

How to keep your Silver jewellery clean

The following hints will help keep your silver jewellery clean and retain its original shine and prevent them from discolouration. Silver items over time tend to discolour easily if worn while in contact with other daily applicable substances for example: house hold detergents, perfume or even water. The best way to prevent this is to remove any items of jewellery prior to engaging in any chores or applying perfume, well, it’s easily said than done! Hence, the following will help you keep you lovely jewellery nice and shiny.

You can use the following guide lines to keep your silver jewellery clean:

·         Use a good quality silver polishing cotton cloth to polish your silver jewellery, so as to prevent scratching the metal. A Silver polishing clothe can be bought from any high street jeweller, available in some supermarkets, e-bay and some hard ware shops. These are inexpensive and it’s a good investment if you have any jewellery that may have discoloured or looks oxidised that can easily be cleaned to its original form with a polishing cloth that contains Silver polish.

·         You can also clean silver jewellery by soaking them in a mixture of mild washing up liquid and warm water. Keep them immersed in the suds for about 30 minutes and if you want use a jewellery cleaning soft brush that can also be bought at any high street jewellers or you can use any soft brush to gently clean around gem stones without scratching the silver. Remember to dry the jewellery thoroughly and polish well with a soft cotton cloth or a silver polishing cloth that usually contains silver polish.

Hope you find these hints helpful in keeping your silver jewellery looking its finest.
